In many ways Tramontina is the machete of Brazil. And yes, they know their machetes in Brazil. Tramontina machetes are used by rural workers in the hinterlands of South America. These machetes are now becoming more and more popular outside of Brazil as Tramontina value is truly extraordinary. A no frills, economical work machete.

I have used this machete with multiple things around my 9 acre place with lots of blackberry bushes and honey suckle overgrown. I think the plastic handle is very good and don’t understand why some people think it should be wood. When using any tool with a hard impact you should loosen your grip so as not to absorb the impact into your hand while maintaining control of the tool.

Edge/Metal is good to go. First 100 chops of small vines and bamboo and no dents or dulled edge, or cracks. Not impressed with the handle, so i will be modifying it to my liking.

This thing is impressive. Easily takes out 2″ tree limbs. Holds an edge well and easy to sharpen. 4 of 5 stars because the handle is crap. Too small and very cheap plastic. Wooden handle or better quality plastic would make this 5 stars.

Best BRUSH Machete on the market, for tall guys. It’s extra length gives great reach and added cutting momentum, right on the edge for being too long.
For an average height guy I’d go with the 22″ however.
Note this Machete is meant for briars, bushes, small limbs/trees (<2" dia.) But I'm if you are cutting anything bigger you should just use an arborist chainsaw.

My go to machete. The handle won’t raise blisters even after long use. The blade strike and cutting action is predictable and consistent through oak branches up to 1 inch diameter. It is light enough to whip it up to speed one handed and heavy enough for two handed chopping. A great all around machete.

Would have gave it a five star but the crappy pos handle ruined it!!! Don’t know why they put such a bad handle on a good blade? I wanted a wooden handle so I might have been able to personalize it to fit my hand or even a solid plastic one but this handle ruined the machete it sucks it’s hollow and I’m afraid to take it off and make my own because it doesn’t look to have a through tang can’t tell there is hole in the middle of the handle. they really missed the mark on this one!!! Could have been a good machete if they weren’t trying to cut costs so much. I would have been willing to pay a little more for a better handle but could not find one on the 24 inch it needs a wooden one. Metal is good holds edge but don’t buy without wooden handle!!!!!
