MacheteSpecialists.com carries a wide variety of Ralph Martindaleproducts. These machetes are made in their wholly-owned manufacturing plant in Thailand.  The Martindale “Crocodile” brand blades are made from hot rolled high quality British Steel, produce in the Martindale’s own mill.

What sets the Martindale “Crocodile” blades apart is the tapered strip section used to better the chopping and cutting characteristics of the blade through optimizing the weight of the tool.

As for Martindale “Crocodile” machete handles, these are made from German beech wood and the timber is cross-sown for maximum strength and stability. Additionally, the handle is fitted to the blade with solid steel rivets and washers.

I purchased two Martindale machetes this one and the No. 2 and I was unable to get either of them sharp so I took them to the local knife and tool sharpener to see if his 20 years of practical knowledge could put an edge on them. After three days he called me and told me there would be no charge because he could not get them to hold an edge the steel was too soft. I would say it was just a fluke if were one but with it being both and two different models I would say that there is a fundamental flaw (or entire lack) in heat treatment.
I would caution against Martindale products based on this experience. However the blade designs and weights are good and I would buy the exact same designs in a different steel from a maker that has a reputation for good heat treatment. I found the handle on this particular model to almost completely lack any ergonomic value at all. Buyer be ware.

Hard to find style in the U.S.
Handle grinds easily and takes a really nice shape with little effort. Fine sanding material to finish left a comfortable amount of grip without being aggressive.
Vise straightened out the warp, it’s hot rolled and uncorrected so it’s to be expected. Has a great spring to it, sharpened easily and cuts like hell. Quickly removed 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inch branches and than chopped through the 4″ limbs of black walnut I tested it on. Near frozen and hard wood to begin with, the bolo destroyed it and still cut paper. Way happier than with my Condor Duku that chips on hardwood. I lowered tip slightly and it drills great now. Just a really great working machete, very happy.
Not so much with this company as they never answered multiple emails about shipping. I paid for priority and they sent it sure post.
Besides their lack of CS it was ok

An Excellent Machete once Sharpened. Not Easy to Find.
