    This is a very good tool. It can be sharpened to a hair shaving edge. It is just slightly front heavy. But it adds a little oomph to the chopping ability because of it. A lanyard hole would be nice.

    Came sharp…surprisingly. Great for what it is. Steel is not as hard as Imacasa steel but harder than Cold Steel. Very File-able in the field. Handle can be modified but small for XXL hands, although they still will work snuggly. Perfect length for most common uses other than land clearing or grass cutting. Blade is thicker than most Tramontina and is the best machete they make. Hits hard for its size…not as hard as OKC 14 inch but the blade is not as thick or heavy and its not made for battoning…learn to use wood wedges like Tom Brown and Mors Kochanski, two of the most widely regarded survival instructors. This is a great compact, wearable, sharpen-able, stout, and affordable camping, pack, or vehicle machete that also excels at yard and garden work.

    I resisted “bolo” style machetes for years, because I thought they were ugly. Then I tried this model, and changed my mind. When it comes to tools, Function over Form, always. For the woody brush I use this on it’s just about perfect, yet it handles softer grasses as well. Some machetes are good for greenery, some are better at woody brush. This is a great compromise blade.

    I might wish for a slightly longer handle, but for the price who can argue!

    This is a perfectly balanced machete for work in the woods. Don’t waste money on more expensive machetes. This is a true workhorse and if taken care of will last a long time. Just wish there was a kydex or other non-fabric belt sheath, slide-in style, available for it.

    A solid cheap machete. Truly a workhorse and the the staple machete of most cane hands in far north Queensland Australia. If your willing to put 15 to 20 minutes into sharpening a convex edge into this machete, with a light oil it will last you years. Another great thing is the handle is not perfectly tapered to the spine of the blade and is not filled with resin, this again allows further shaving or sending to form that perfect grip. Would recommend and I use it frequently.

    This is an excellent machete, the steel is very high quality and takes a razor sharp edge. I modified mine by drilling a hole for a lanyard, needed a diamond tile drilling bit to bore through the metal. I Epoxied a 6mm copper tube in the landed hole , it’s perfect. It is fantastic for processing very large catfish, opening coconuts and making cordage. I modified the handle with a rasp and sand paper to thin it out and smooth edges. I filed down the bevel angle so the blade never wedged into anything I cut . I sharpened it on my paper wheel to blistering sharpness , made a cardboard and gaffa tape sheath for it. This machete modified and sharpened properly together with a high quality mosquito net, sets you up ready to be air dropped into hell, trust me I’ve been there.
